The real deal

Dr. Christina and Dr Jake are the real deal. They are smart, empathetic and on your side. Dr. Christina was able to diagnose my lower back pain within our first visit; something I’ve been seeing doctors for for 20+ years. My daughters also see her and are no longer nervous to go to the doctor. I highly recommend looking at the savings they offer long term when looking at prescriptions and preventative care.

Goes above and beyond

I have never been so happy with my primary care physician before in my life. Dr. Christina goes above and beyond to help her patients. I really appreciate the ability to contact her directly when needed and in the speed in which she gets back to you. Dr. Jake is also wonderful! The amount of time and care you are given at each appointment is priceless. I highly recommend Defiant Direct Primary Care!

A doctor that cares

Dr. Christina Mutch is amazing. I finally found a doctor that cares. She doesn't rush your appointment along and she asks questions. The office is clean and not clinical. Dr. Mutch really wants to help you and doesn't just throw pills at your symptoms she wants to get to the root of the problem. If you are considering going to her, just do it. She's absolutely amazing.

Bold, refreshing approach to medical care

We met our new doctors at a farmer’s market – of all places! I found my wife talking to an attractive young couple at a stand without a vegetable in sight. Drs. Jake and Christina were explaining their new medical practice and their bold, refreshing approach to medical care, called Direct Primary Care. Although normally I won’t go near a doctor except as a last resort, I was intrigued. The hands of time continue their relentless march and I know I can’t avoid doctors forever. So, I decided to give Dr. Jake a try. Wow, what a difference! Dr. Jake took plenty of time to get to know me and my health concerns. He checked me over thoroughly and encouraged me to address some of the health maintenance issues I have been neglecting. He helped me to understand my options and to make good choices – all without being pushy. Imagine being able to text or email your doctor directly when you have a question or concern! My wife was so shocked that I was positive about seeing my doctor that she switched to Dr. Christina. We couldn’t be happier with our new doctors!

I actually feel excited to have a new Primary Care Doctor

What an experience. A welcoming feeling as you enter Defiant. THERE IS NO WAITING ROOM OR RECEPTIONIST. I was welcomed by Dr. Jake Mutch right at the door. We spent the first moments going over the run down of who I am, history as well as the basics (heart rate, breathing, etc.). Went in due to wax build up, I usually squirm when some one is removing it but Dr. Mutch made it very comfortable. I even got to watch him work through his camera. I have already set up my follow up appointment and will have blood work done on my next visit to take a deeper dive on my health. I have never been one to go to the Doctor but after my visit I actually feel excited to have a new Primary Care Dr in Williamsburg. Thanks!!

This is what healthcare should be! If you want your doctor to take the time to fully understand all aspects of your health and not surprise you with fees or cost of care, you need to consider this practice. Dr. Mutch is great! I would highly recommend to my family and friends.

Dr. Christina is the best primary care doctor I've ever had. Really. She has been an absolute lifesaver for me. Her dedication to my physical and mental well being has blown me away. I've never had a doctor care so much. I feel so lucky to have found her and this practice!

Physician who goes that extra step

I have been a patient since fall of 2020 and I have experienced care above and beyond. Dr. Jake has answered calls / texts, offered holistic treatment and advice. He has made countless calls to follow up on my care needs…always ready to listen. He is diligent in his care model by not prescribing unnecessary medications, but rather looking for alternatives, such as diet and/or exercise changes, monitoring closely vital signs and consultation in full with the patient's own plan of care followed.

He has offered stretches and strength training, dietary plans and counseling…this is a model I have never been privy to in my over 18 years as a Registered Nurse. I have never seen a physician who goes that extra step, researches and send links and apps to follow and learn from to their patients. I feel blessed to have been able to have Dr. Jake and his staff a part of my life and feel that my health is in the best physician's hands. I would highly recommend any patient to Defiant Direct Primary Care for both the management and prevention of all disease processes.

Sees me both as a person and as a patient

From the first time I spoke to Dr. Jake when I was considering joining the practice at Defiant I knew he was the right doctor to help me on my wellness journey. I am very disillusioned with contemporary medical care in the US right now and I think it needs a complete overhaul. Dr. Jake and Dr. Christina are overhauling medical care in our little corner of the world with a patient-centered practice, and we are lucky to be the beneficiaries of their vision and their values right here in Williamsburg.

I feel that Dr. Jake sees me both as a person and as a patient. He offers his help in a holistic way. He is caring and thorough, and wants to be sure all questions are answered clearly. If a question or an issue comes up between appointments he quickly texts or emails back with an answer for me. He provides comments on test results by email so I can understand what is going on and refer back to these notes if needed. In appointments he is an attentive listener, he never makes me feel rushed. His osteopathic skills are first rate also. Thank you Dr. Jake for your support and encouragement, your care and your knowledge !

She truly cares about me as a whole person

I’m glad that I chose Dr Christina as my primary care physician. She is knowledgeable, professional, holistic and a great communicator. Not only is she great at explaining things, but she listens well and gives plenty of time. Dr Christina discusses treatment options, then gives me a choice with how I’d like to proceed. She responds promptly to texts and emails. I’ve also had several Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy sessions with Dr Christina which were effective in reducing pain and helping with realignment and muscle balance. She gave helpful and practical information about exercises, stretching and body positioning. She is kind and I feel that she truly cares about me as a whole person.

I have never felt so comfortable talking with a doctor

As a woman in her 50s, I have seen many doctors over the years. Most of them were adequate, but for many years, I have been in search of a doctor who is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and willing to listen and actually get to know me. I have finally found this in Dr. Christina! I have never felt so comfortable talking with a doctor. It is obvious that she truly cares about each patient and takes the time to get to know them. I have texted her with questions and she has gotten back to me quickly with the detailed information that I needed. I so appreciate her and I am thrilled that she and her husband have opened their practice here in Williamsburg!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Dr. Christina won me over the very first appointment I had with her…When I say I have never met a more nice loving caring understanding friendly (and so much more) doctor ever...I have never!! She takes her time with her patients with no rush no matter what and makes sure to meet all the needs of her patients!! She makes her patients a PRIORITY!! I feel more like a family member than a patient because she makes it so comfortable for you as her patient!! The kind of quality you see in a Norman Rockwell painting

Before I met Dr. Jake Mutch, I had always been frustrated with how little time one had as a patient in relation to my primary care doctor…I had begun to search carefully for a medical doctor who would really listen to my health concerns and questions. Coincidentally, while reading a featured editorial in the ‘Good Neighbor’, I was intrigued to read an interview with Dr. & Dr. Mutch…Upon finishing this article, I knew I had to meet these doctors and inquire about my primary care options.

…Being healthy and in my sixties, I still enjoy ballroom dancing, hiking, camping, skiing, bicycling, and when I get just a little lazy I also enjoy a nice motorcycle ride after playing the piano. The reason I can do these things is because I have someone who I can see anytime to answer any questions I had and be able to determine with Dr. Mutch if I need to be treated. Dr. Jake has been responsible for these wonderful activities I can still do just as I had done them while in college..well, almost as good anyways.

I highly recommend Dr. Mutch as a private osteopathic care medical doctor. I have never felt better in my lifetime as I do now. I realize staying healthy is a commitment one works on every day and Dr. Mutch encourages me to call him anytime for regular visits and consequently has made himself available to me as a doctor should. Once you meet this physician, you’ll experience the kind of quality you see in a Norman Rockwell painting..honesty, sincerity, caring, and keen perception in using his medical wisdom to treat a patient.

Good old fashioned medicine has returned to Williamsburg

Good old fashioned medicine has returned to Williamsburg, putting patients FIRST, not the insurance companies! So glad that I found Dr. Christina Mutch who isn't just my new doctor, she's a partner in my health journey. Wonderful practice with caring, passionate, knowledgeable and friendly family doctors. I really hope this practice stays here forever

I don't think I can really put into words how much I love this place and Dr. Jake is just wonderful…When I went to go to the appointment the office was clean and inviting…I was then greeted by the doctor and he spent over an hour just getting to know me and what my health is like and what we can focus on. He took notes and was very thoughtful and thorough…He really took the time to go over my labs and help me understand how things work and what each result means. He even takes the time to call or text you to see how you are doing or answer questions as soon as he is able. It really feels like a true family type doctor…I left there feeling like I finally had some hope and that its possible to improve my health. I will be having my husband see him as well. I highly recommend anyone who needs or wants a doctor who will care to come here. I really hope this practice stays here forever! Thank you Dr. Jake!
